Abstract
This work is concerned with a two-dimensional numerical study done to predict the influence of transverse rectangular cross-sectioned ribs on a solar air heater’s convective heat transfer properties. Solar air heater is a useful device that can be utilized to augment the temperature of air by extracting heat from solar energy. It is a rectangular duct consisting of an absorber plate on its top and heat falls only on the top of absorber plate. When ribs/baffles are introduced just beneath the absorber plate, there is a considerable alteration in the thermal performance of air flowing through the rectangular duct. A comparison was made between the results of thin (high aspect ratio) and square ribs arranged in three patterns, namely, single wall arrangement, staggered arrangement and in-line arrangement on two opposite walls. Abstract
Present research work focuses on static analysis of spur gear under different materials. For the purpose of research, first of all a spur gear of standard dimensions, provided by a customized machine manufacturing firm, was designed, and four properties, namely, Von misses stresses, total deformation and total equivalent strain were investigated, with four materials, namely, PLA, Ceramic ZrO2, Epoxy and ABS. Results of static analysis, with an applied load of 1000 N showed the suitability of PLA material for the gear. The software used were Creo 3.0 and Sim Scale. Abstract
Nowadays, glass fiber reinforced plastics (GFRP) composites play a vital role in many engineering applications as an alternative to various heavy exotic materials. In GFRP polymeric composites, the matrix of polymer (resin) is reinforced with glass fibers. Glass fiber reinforced plastics are increasingly used for variety of engineering applications from automobile to air craft components because of their superior advantages when compared to the other engineering materials. The advantages include weight-to-strength ratio, high fracture toughness and excellent thermal and corrosion resistance. Though the technology of composite manufacturing is advanced, near-net-shaped components with the required surface finish quality can be achieved only by machining. Abstract
This study deals with the comparative analysis of Reinforced Concrete (RC) & Steel chimneys. Such chimneys (with heights up to 60m) will be analyze and designed in conformity with various codes of practice. The main masses to be thought-about throughout the analysis of tall structures like chimneys are wind forces, temperature loads and seismic loads in addition to the dead loads. The design is finished with limit state ideas (which are nonetheless to be incorporated into IS 4998). The main objective of the present work is to comparative study of geometrical limitations in the analysis of self-supporting RC & steel chimney. Here we analysis and compare of steel chimney and concrete chimney with considering lateral forces and result obtained in term of Node Displacement, Support reaction and support Moment and verifies the various stresses on both kinds of stacks.
